Berlin Chapter

The overall project “Import Export” is realized by Werkleitz Gesellschaft e.V. Partner orgaization and location for the Berlin Chapter is the House of World Cultures in Berlin.

The Werkleitz Gesellschaft was founded in 1993 as non-profit association and runs the Centre for Art and Visual Media in Saxony-Anhalt in Halle/Saale. The Centre has a media office and a media lab, gives grants to national and international artists and organises workshops and events. Through the Werkleitz Biennale - the biggest international forum for media art in the New Member States - the Centre's reputation has spread well beyond Saxony-Anhalt.

The House of World Cultures is a leading centre for the contemporary arts and a venue for projects breaking through artistic boundaries. It has set itself the task of presenting cultures from outside Europe through their fine arts, theatre, music, literature, film and the media and engaging them in a public discourse with European cultures. It gives priority to projects that explore the possibilities of both intercultural co-operation and its presentation.
